Two DCPS Preschool Classrooms Are VQB5 Qualified

Dinwiddie, Virginia- Dinwiddie County Public Schools is proud to announce that two of its elementary schools, Dinwiddie Elementary School and Sunnyside Elementary School have been
officially recognized as VQB5 Qualified, a designation measuring teacher-child interactions and use of quality curriculum for more than 11, 300 classrooms. Both schools received
Excellence Honor Roll recognition. Only 101 sites statewide of 3,293 earned this designation.

Governor Glenn Youngkin and the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) announced on October 14, 2025 the release of the early childhood site quality ratings via VQB5, Virginia’s
statewide early childhood measurement system. Virginia’s early childhood programs demonstrated both excellence and improvement in 2024-2025. This year, Virginia launched
three VQB5 Honor Rolls to recognize 494 early childhood sites:

Excellence Honor Roll
– The highest possible rating in VQB5.

Infant-Toddler Quality Honor Roll
– Top performance in infant/toddler classrooms (top 10% in the state).

Improvement Honor Roll
– Year-over-year gains in infant/toddler classrooms (top 10% in the state).

“The first five years of a child’s life are critical to their future success. In Dinwiddie, our goal is that every preschooler has the opportunity to benefit from a quality early learning program
before kindergarten. This recognition is the result of the leadership and commitment of Penny Brooks and our outstanding educators, who have spent the past eight years developing and
expanding our school-based programs, as well as the exceptional care they have provided to our youngest learners,” said Dr. Kari Weston, Superintendent of Dinwiddie County Public
Schools.

Parents can easily find quality information online for 3,293 public and private early childhood sites by visiting https://earlychildhoodquality.doe.virginia.gov/ . Since launching last October,
the portal has received more than 100,000 views. Honorees will receive Honor Roll certificates and be recognized on their online VQB5 Quality Profiles.
